Metrology Service of JSC "BUREAU VERITAS RUS"

The Metrology Service has been operating since 2005 and holds an accreditation certificate for performing calibration of tanks and holds of oil tankers, as well as pipelines.

In 2016, the Metrology Service was accredited by the Russian national accreditation body, the Federal Accreditation Service ("Rosakkreditatsiya"), and is an accredited laboratory ensuring the uniformity of measurements for the verification of measuring instruments within its scope of accreditation (No. RA.RU.311625 dated April 12, 2016).

Since 2005, the Metrology Service has carried out metrological work and has extensive experience measuring the geometric parameters of tanks and bunker holds of oil-carrying vessels; since 2005 it has measured more than 250 oil tankers, 350 tanks, and 50,000 meters of pipeline. All measurements and calculations are carried out by specialists who are qualified and experienced in the calibration and verification of tanks (horizontal steel tanks, vertical steel tanks, pipelines, road tankers, etc.) using geometric and volumetric methods, and who hold Rostechnadzor clearance, metrology expert certificates, and advanced training credentials. The work is carried out in accordance with up-to-date regulatory and technical documentation, in compliance with international standards and the standards of the Russian Federation.

The Metrology Service provides verification and calibration services using the volumetric and geometric methods for:

• horizontal tanks with a volume from 3 to 200 m³;
• vertical tanks from 100 to 50,000 m³;
• road tankers up to 40 m³;
• cargo and bunker tanks of oil-carrying vessels from 45 to 20,000 m³;
• pipelines;
• verification of domestic cold- and hot-water meters.

Since 2005, the Metrology Service has been listed in the State Register of the Metrological Supervision System of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Metrological Service (FSUE "VNIIMS"), Certificate No. 001045 dated February 13, 2019.

Based on this certificate, the Metrology Service provides the following services:

• recommendations on organizing and conducting systematic checks of compliance with metrological requirements, both within and outside areas subject to state regulation; preventing violations; and taking corrective action for violations identified during supervisory activities regarding the condition and use of measuring instruments, test equipment, certified measurement procedures, unit-of-measurement standards, and compliance with metrological rules, regulations, and regulatory documents ensuring the uniformity of measurements.

Conducting audits of enterprises' metrological supervision systems and equipment status to assess:

• the condition of measuring instruments used in industry;
• verification of measuring instruments for compliance with metrological specifications;
• the correct application of measuring instruments at industrial facilities;
• examination and/or comparison of the geometric parameters of technical equipment and measuring instruments used at enterprises;
• analysis of statistics from industrial enterprises' metering units;
• verification of the metrological characteristics and properties of measuring instruments, and recommendations for implementing an automated system for accounting production, storage, and sales in line with established standard requirements;
• recommendations on the application, introduction of verification and/or calibration of measuring instruments at enterprises;
• the correctness of maintenance and repair of measuring instruments in accordance with regulatory (repair) documentation requirements, the availability of conditions for performing such work, and whether personnel qualifications meet the applicable requirements.
